Google Imagen - DALL-E 2 competitor (May/2022)
Google Imagen was announced on 23/May/2022. Users prefer the outputs of Google's new text-to-image generator over DALL-E 2 for fidelity and alignment metrics. I present some of the 1024x1024 images from the Imagen paper in this video.
Open-sourcing the big image recognition models
While the Google Imagen model is closed, there is already an open source implementation of Imagen being worked on, though it would need the original image training data, and would take a lot of technical effort to build and train.
The same author, Phil Wang (lucidrains) also developed an open source implementation of DALL-E 2.
